SynQor named as Finalist in EDN Innovation of the Year Award

Hudson, Mass - SynQor has been selected from a field of hundreds of candidates as a finalist in EDN's 11th Annual Innovation of the Year Awards Competition. This exclusive awards program, sponsored by EDN Magazine, is dedicated to honoring truly outstanding engineering products in the electronics industry.

Products and technologies qualifying for a 2000 Innovation award must have been introduced and commercially marketed from January 1, 2000 through December 31, 2000. Fourteen major product/technology areas were eligible for consideration. A panel of EDN's technical editors selected three finalist products in each category. SynQor had its PowerQor Quarter-brick series of DC-DC converters selected in the power sources category.

SynQor's Quarter-brick DC-DC converter module was selected based on its revolutionary design, which allows much higher efficiency and higher power density. The PowerQor converters represent a new generation of smaller, lighter and more efficient converters that operate without a heat sink. Responding to emerging trends, SynQor developed the PowerQor Quarter-brick converter, which permits a lower profile, more useable power and a simplified construction technique that increases reliability while reducing costs. The Quarter-brick family is SynQor's third major product introduction for the rapidly growing firm based in Hudson, MA.

Winners of the 11th Annual Innovation of the Year Awards will be chosen by EDN's worldwide readers through an online ballot at the EDN Access web site ( We encourage you to visit the site and review the magazine's comments on the PowerQor Quarter-brick converters. Winning products will be announced at a black-tie optional awards banquet on April 9, 2001 and in the April 26, 2000 issue of EDN.
