Martin F. Schlecht – Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Schlecht founded SynQor in 1997 and has served as its CEO since then. Prior to founding SynQor, Dr. Schlecht was Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for over 15 years. His research focused on power electronics in general and on next generation product technology for modular DC-DC converters in particular. In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Schlecht served as a consultant to the power electronics industry. Dr. Schlecht holds SBEE, SBME, SMEE, EE and ScD degrees, all from MIT.

Rene Hemond - President

Mr. Hemond became President of SynQor in 2017, having served as an Executive Vice President for 12 years. He joined SynQor as a founding member in 1998, and at various times he has managed the company’s Product Development, New Product Introduction, Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing processes. Mr. Hemond brought 15 years of power electronics experience in the defense industry, much of it at Raytheon. His projects included AAMRAM, SM-2, Sparrow and Stinger missiles, as well as the Honeywell space station. His work on these projects focused on integrating product design, development and manufacturing. Mr. Hemond holds a SBEE degree from University of Rhode Island.

Buzz Hofmann –General Counsel and Executive Vice President

Mr. Hofmann joined SynQor in 2001 as its General Counsel and VP, has served as an Executive Vice President since 2005, and as SynQor’s CFO between 2014 and 2018. Besides handling SynQor’s legal issues, Mr. Hofmann has led SynQor’s Financial, Human Resource, IT and Facilities processes. Prior to joining SynQor, Mr. Hofmann was a Partner and member of the Executive Committee of the Boston law firm Nutter, McClennen & Fish, LLP, which serves as outside counsel to SynQor. Mr. Hofmann specialized in the areas of technology start-ups, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, international transactions and corporate finance. Mr. Hofmann holds a BA, with Distinction, from the University of Virginia, and a JD degree, magna cum laude, from Syracuse University College of law where he was a member of the Law Review and Order of the Coif.

Abram Dancy – Chief Technology Officer, Boxborough

Mr. Dancy joined SynQor as a founding member in 1997. Along with Dr. Farrington, he has led the SynQor engineering team responsible for the design and development of all of SynQor’s products. Many of those products are of his own design. Prior to joining SynQor, Mr. Dancy researched ultra-low power conversion at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and he worked on the development of DC-DC converters for satellite and military applications. Mr. Dancy holds SBEE and MEng degrees from MIT.

Richard W. Farrington – Chief Technology Officer, Dallas

Dr. Farrington joined SynQor in 2000 as a senior design engineer in its Dallas R&D facility, and quickly became the leader of that group. Along with Mr. Dancy, he has lead the effort for the design and development of all of SynQor’s products, many of which are of his own design. Prior to joining SynQor, Dr. Farrington worked for AT&T Bell Labs and for Ericsson Power Systems. At AT&T Bell Labs he was a member of the forward looking group working on next generation AC-DC power converters with an emphasis on soft switching techniques. While at Ericsson he was responsible for the development of next generation board mounted power converters using synchronous rectifiers. Dr. Farrington holds SBEE, SBME and SMEE degrees from North Carolina State University, and the PhD from Virginia Polytechnic Institute of Technology.

Dorothy Griffith - Treasurer

Ms. Griffith joined SynQor in 1999 and has served leadership roles in the New Product Introduction, Marketing and Finance processes. She became Treasurer of SynQor in 2014. Ms. Griffith was previously employed by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center as a Flight Dynamics Data Analyst and Project Manager. Ms. Griffith holds an SB in Mathematics from the University of Vermont and an SMEE from Johns Hopkins University.
